This designation code generator is based on ASTM D2310-97: Standard Classification for Machine-Made "Fiberglass" (Glass-Fiber-Reinforced thermosetting-Resin) Pipe.
There are two designation code generators (look up scripts) using the ASTM D2310 standard classification. For the first generator, the ASTM D2310 designation code for FRP fiberglass pipe is the input - and - the output are the D2310 property values. For the second generator, the property must be supplied by the FRP fiberglass pipe manufacturer in order to generate the ASTM D2310 designation code for the piping.
The piping property data from ASTM D2310-97 Table I - is shown at the bottom of the page. Therefore, it is possible to look up and 'generate' the ASTM D2310 designation code (or look up the property) 'by hand'. Or the D2310 Table 1 data can be used to explain how the classification (designation code) for composite fiberglass piping is derived.
P.S. Our webmaster is too poor to buy the latest version (D2310-01); therefore, this designation code generator is based on ASTM D2310-97 data (which is probably what many manufactures use).
BTW: The script was 'debugged' to the best of our ability! However, all fiberglass pipe designation code and/or fiberglass properties (all output) must be verified with the FRP fiberglass pipe manufacturer when using the values for a piping specification, order form, job sites, etc.
Table 1 data was divided into 4 Parts for spacing considerations. Each part is one 'designation order' i.e. Part 1 = Type; Part 2 = Grade; Part 3 = Class and Part 4 = Hoop stress (cyclic or static).

| AThe cell-type format provides the means of identification and specification of piping materials. This cell-type format, however, is subject to misapplication since unobtainable property combinations can be selected if the user is not familiar with commercially available products. The manufacturer should be consulted.
BRefer to Practice D 2992 to obtain classification of the values. |
